Teague, Denish, in Anthony on Saturday

U.S. Congressional candidate Harry Teague will speak at the Anthony Water and Sanitation District, 155 North fourth St., in Anthony on Saturday, November 1, at 9:00 a.m.. He will be accompanied by Lt. Governor Diane Denish.

Denish and Teague have known each other since childhood, and went to schools together. There has been some speculation that, should Barack Obama become President, and should Governor Richardson be offered a job in Washington, Diane Denish would automatically become the Governor of New Mexico. This would probably materialize by mid-January, 2009.

Mr Garcia,

Finally we get a big star to come to southern NM. Gov Richardson knows he is not wanted in the south Valley. We are counting the days till Gov Richardson and his staff are out of our state.

I have cut down this entry because of its length. It consists of an entire article by Barry Massey for the AP on Richardson's travels for Obama, and I believe I have included the points the reader is most interested in. (JZG)

(Barry Massey, Associated Press:) "When the governor campaigns for Obama, the campaign covers his travel expenses. However, New Mexico taxpayers pick up the tab for travel by the state police officers who serve as the governor's security detail. The governor defends that policy although New Mexico is facing a more than $200 million budget shortfall and he's ordered cuts in travel by state agencies under his control.
"The Obama campaign is not responsible for my security, the state is," said Richardson. "This is a practice for every governor and their families, so we're not going to change that."
