Chihuahua Attorney General Asserts Active Duty Police May have Been Involved in the Murder of the Fifteen High School Students

Patricia González Rodríguez, state Attorney General, said investigators believe active duty police officers were complicit in the operation which mistakenly killed fifteen high school students last month. This information comes after the arrest of Aldo Fabio Hernández Lozano, alias "el 18," a police officer from 2000-2008. Mr. Hernández received about $150 per week from the street gang known as "La Linea," to act as an assassin, according to the attorney general's office. He was released from active duty in October 2008 when he failed a reliability test administered by the police department. After his arrest he confessed his participation in the massacre, and apparently indicated there were numerous active duty police that night who conspired to make sure police were absent from the vicinity of the neighborhood in which the killings took place. Police are still hunting for eleven suspected accomplices to the murders.

? for the blog host. I spoke to some family in Mexico City and they say there is a movement in MX for our favorite Gov Bill Richardson to be President of Mexico. First of all can he indeed be the president there?

Richardson could not be President of Mexico because like the U.S. Mexico requires its presidents to have been born in Mexico and to have resided in Mexico at least two decades. It would be highly unlikely Mexicans would choose someone who was forced out of the Obama cabinet because of pay-to-play allegations. His actions as governor also caused some sectors in Juarez to believe he acted against the interests of Juarez on behalf of wealthy interests in El Paso, New Mexico, and Chihuahua.

Sounds like we are stuck with Richardson. How long if ever will it take the state of New Mexico to repair the damage he has caused. Can your government class do a poll on what Richardson's current approval rating is in the valley?

We don't need a poll to know his popularity is down in this part of NM. When he tried campaigning in Sunland Park for Obama on October 17 2008 he was virtually chased out of the building by a crowd angry at him for complaining about the ASARCO stack while all the time conniving to keep the landfill open in Sunland. Other parts of the valley are upset about all the broken promises, and other parts are still angry he came and promised thousands of jobs if Dona Ana County would just pass a tax increase to help out the construction of the spaceport and we're still waiting as we see all the good jobs go to Albuquerque and out of state firms. He did sign the colonias bill into law but he did not initiate it, and I don't think it evens out the score.

Richardson's border plans with Mexico has not gone anywhere since he has been in office. Its not right how we are not increasing more trade with Mexico. I've been told that Richardson does not have the right trained staff to do that?
