Unemployment Edges Up in New Mexico in March

The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday released the latest monthly state employment figures. Click here to see full report. More bad news: With statewide unemployment creeping back up to 8.7% in March, New Mexico is among the worst performing of the states for the March 2009-March 2010 period. During that time period New Mexico unemployment rate increased 2.5%, which represents a loss of 16,900 jobs. Only Florida, Mississippi, Nevada, and West Virginia had larger percentile declines in the same period, while nine states plus the District of Columbia actually increased employment.
