Unemployment Edges Up in New Mexico in March

More bad news: With statewide unemployment creeping back up to 8.7% in March, New Mexico is among the worst performing of the states for the March 2009-March 2010 period. During that time period New Mexico unemployment rate increased 2.5%, which represents a loss of 16,900 jobs. Only Florida, Mississippi, Nevada, and West Virginia had larger percentile declines in the same period, while nine states plus the District of Columbia actually increased employment.
