Future Public Security Secretary in Juárez

From Diario:  **A father and his son were shot last night while in an SUV, in Col Flores Magon.  The son was killed.  The father was hospitalized.  **Two men were killed by gunfire last night on Francisco Villa two blocks north of the Balderas Bullring in downtown Juárez.  **A man was shot and killed in Col Villas de Salvárcar.

Future Public Security Secretary in Juárez to Discuss Strategies to Reduce Violence

 Alfonso Durazo Montaño, who has been tapped by President-elect Lopez Obrador (AMLO) to be the next Secretary of Public Security in Mexico arrived today in Juárez to participate in a forum on public security in Juarez on August 7.  In an interview with Diario Durazo, who has be an activist in the PRI, who worked as an advisor and spokesperson for PAN president Vicente Fox, outlined several possible lines of attack in his strategy to reduce violence, including reduction in corruption in law enforcement agencies, better pay and training for law enforcement officers, amnesty, and decriminalization.

Mr Durazo was asked by AMLO two and a half years ago to prepare himself to become the Security Secretary, should AMLO be elected president.  He has been preparing for it since then.
