Update on Other Areas in Latin America

A Diario report this morning (click here) asserts that two persons in Cd. Juárez are under observation for possible infection of the Covid-19 virus, but are expected to be released shortly, since they have shown no symptoms of the virus.  The two persons in question had traveled to Shanghai, Tokyo, and then Mexico City, and arriving in Juárez on February 21.  Bottom Line:  Thus far there are no known cases of Covid-19 in Cd. Juárez.

Diario also ran an AP story this morning (click here) summarizing the known incidence of the novel coronavirus throughout Latin Ameria. Ecuador has the most cases in all of Latin America, with 13 reported cases so far.  Another 122 are in residential isolation.  A representative of the World Health Organization explained that the 12 most recent cases are "what we call a second scenario; the first confirmed case constituted the direct line of contact; the second scenario cases, fortunately are confined to the familial network ("conglomerado familiar"), passed on from the first case."

The AP story goes on to report the confirmed presence of novel coronavirus cases in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.
